About Speech Train
Speech Train is a customizable exchange program for students and early career Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) interested in the clinical impacts of bi/multilingualism + bi/multiculturalism.
They connect you with local clinics to complete a practicum placement, giving access to a renowned course on updated methodologies when working with multilingual and multicultural families, and connect with the local interprofessional community through networking events.
They also provide housing, tourism guidance, and language support as needed. Whether they are a new or experienced traveler, their programs are designed to be customizable and provide students with the structure they need to get started.
Speech Train’s target audience demanded a logo suite that felt high-end, professional, aesthetic, and that would still appeal to those looking for adventure. Incorporating train imagery into the suite was a must, in order to tie-in with the name. Having an icon that would look good on merchandise was also important.
We played around with different types of trains, and eventually landed on a more modern train illustration that played off the adventurous nature of travel with mountains in the background, as well as the hopefulness within students who join the program looking to enhance their skillset as an SLP, represented by the rising sun.
When paired with the serifed Cormorant Garamond, the overall effect is a mature, yet appealing primary logo that could be easily broken down into different formats for the final logo suite, and used in many different ways.
